Geographical location - Primorsky region is situated in Primorye; it is washed by Japanese sea. Border on south, south-west, west and north-west with China, on north with Khabarovsky region, on east and south-east it is washed by Japanese sea. Natural conditions. Major portion of the Primorsky region territory is occupied by Sikhote-Alin Mountains (height 1855m), on south-west Ussurian and Prihankayskaya depressions. Major River Ussury. On the territory of Primorsky region a major part of Lake Hanka is situated. Climate is temperate, monsoon. Mean temperature of January from -12 to -27 degrees; mean temperature of July from +14 to +21 degrees. Amount of precipitations 600-900 mm in year. About 70% of the territory is occupied with coniferous and mixed forests of Manchurian type. On southern-west part of region agriculture is widespread; crops (wheat, oat, rice) and fodder crops, soya are sewed.On the territory of region meat and dairy animal husbandry, animal breeding (mink, silvery-black fox), deer farming and beekeeping are widespread. Population. Primorsky region is ranged to highly urbanized regions. Economic benefits. The basic economic benefit of the Primorsky region is its geographical location. This region has a very favorable climate, rich in forest resources and minerals. Japanese sea is full of fish. Specialization. Primorsky region's economy is based on using natural resources of the Pacific Ocean (fish haul, marine products production), shipping maintenance.
